How do you even start the Beasts of Balance Battles Game? Cards and beasts do absolutely nothing

Hi,

The beasts of balance battles box has absolutely no instructions at all. The new beasts don't scan on my plinth and the cards don't do anything either. The YouTube tutorial is useless as it starts with a choice of guardians that doesn't even exist.

Can anyone help me?
